Before becoming forever remembered as the basket case with the insane dandruff, Allison Reynolds, in THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985), Ally lost out to LINDA HAMILTON for the part of Sarah Connor in THE TERMINATOR (1984). While it wasn't ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER's T-600, she teamed with 'Number 5' in the hit SHORT CIRCUIT (1986) - and MATTHEW BRODERICK in WAR GAMES (1983). Ally was also beaten to the role of Samantha Baker in SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984), which of course went to MOLLY RINGWALD. There was also a highlight in ST ELMO'S FIRE (1985) with her Brat Pack colleagues, but things started to go downhill when she teamed with Ringwald again, for BETSY'S WEDDING (1990) and received a Razzie Worst Supporting Actress Award nom, her third such honor in four years. |

After the indignity of appearing in HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK (1992) as a ticket inspector, the actress who got her start in cop show HILL STREET BLUES (1981) returned to television, starring in TV-movies such as THE HAUNTING OF SEACLIFF INN (1994), BURIED ALIVE II (1997) and HIGH ART (1998). There was also a brief stint on the stage, playing the lead role of the German transsexual in the off-Broadway hit HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH (1999). More recently she has popped up again in TV series, this time PSYCH (2009), KYLE XY (2008), CSI (2007) and THE DEAD ZONE (2003), in which she was reunited with ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL. Ally has one daughter with ex-husband DAVID LANSBURY, Rebecca, 14. |
